Frank Loesser Remembered On His 100th Birthday

Frank LoesserJune 30, (THAINDIAN NEWS) On June 29, America remembered one of its greatest songwriters Frank Loesser on his 100th birthday. TCM aired one of the classics of Frank Loesser “How to succeed In Business without Really Trying”. The movie which is an adaptation of the stage musical of the same name stared Robert Morse and was once again able to hold on to the attention of the viewers who tuned in to listen to the compositions of Frank Loesser. The airing of the movie turned out to be a fitting tribute to the songwriter. Apart from the movie, there were many other singers and musicians who remembered Frank Loesser on his 100th birth anniversary.

Michael Feinstein the famous American singer and pianist said to a media source that although Frank Loesser did not gain much popularity during his early years, he was driven by a desire to create “theatrical pieces”. He added that in the sphere of Hollywood the composer did not have the control over his creation and the producers did whatever they liked with the song, but in the Broadway the “composer had control” and it is this control over his creation that had driven Frank Loesser to create those master pieces in the Broadway. Michael Feinstein praised Frank Loesser as a man who knew better than anybody else how his songs should be performed.

Michael Feinstein who is considered a veteran in his field said that he likes the music of Frank Loesser the best as the latter could not only write anything he liked but also had the ability to create any genre that he liked. According to Michael Feinstein, Frank Loesser had the power to write songs that were unique and had the power to become single hits but at the same time worked in a plot.
