August 10th, 2009 - 6:41 pm ICT by IBNSAug 10 (IBNS) Actor Frank Langella will seen back in action as he will join Shia LaBeouf and Michael Douglas in Oliver Stone directed sequel of the Wall Street.
Wall Street 2 – Money never sleeps will be produced by 20th Century Fox, reports variety.com.
Michael Douglas will reprise his Gordon Gekko role while Josh Brolin is reportedly circling a part in the Allan Loeb-scripted drama as well.
In the sequel to the 1987 original, Shia LaBeouf plays a young Wall Street broker mentored by old-time broker Lewis Zabel (Langella). The mentor’s fate plays a major part in the film’s plot. Michael Douglas, who’ll reprise his Gordon Gekko role.
It’s Langella’s first role since his Oscar-nominated turn as Richard Nixon in “Frost/Nixon” in 2008. His next film after Wall Street 2 will be with Cameron Diaz and James Marsden in Richard Kelly-directed thriller “The Box” and Andrew Jarecki’s “All Good Things” with Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Ryan Gosling and Kirsten Dunst.
Javier Bardem’s name as the film’s villain was not considered as negotiations fell apart, but Bardem’s No Country for Old Men co-star Josh Brolin was being considered for the role as the villainous hedge funder
Brolin recently starred as George W. Bush in Stone’s W., which makes the rumor a likely consideration, but nothing else has been said of the situation since outside of Fleming making a brief mention of it in this latest article
The film is set for a April 23, 2010 release from 20th Century Fox.
