Francis Ford Coppola honored with an Oscar Award

wallach-coppola-barlow_3201 Los Angeles, Nov 15 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Second annual Governors Awards came off last Sunday. The event was used to honor Academy Award-winning director, Francis Ford Coppola. The event was used as a prelude to the Academy Awards which are set for the 27th of February next year.

Coppola was honored with the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award. The award was given to him for his role as a producer. The numbers speak for itself. The veteran producer has been involved in more than 50 movies which have managed to get some 63 Academy Awards. Of the number, Coppola-produced movie have won 15 Oscars.

Coppola revealed how he managed that. He said that, “I grew up in an era of boy wonders. There was Irving Thalberg, there was Orson Welles, there was Stanley Kubrick, there was John Frankenheimer, so I started as a 16-year-old and started directing plays and I would love to be a boy wonder even now at my present age”.

The event was attended by over 600 professionals in the movie industry including actors, directors and producers among others. It was held at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood. The event was not televised.
