Francis Ford Coppola almost gave up Hollywood after 9/11 attacks

December 15th, 2007 - 6:17 pm ICT by admin -

Washington, Dec 15 (ANI): Legendary filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola almost gave up Hollywood after the September 11 attacks.

The American film director, producer and screenwriter had made plans to make Megalopolis in New York City, but his plans were destroyed by the terrorist attacks.

Coppola had spent more than a year planning the grand project, when the hi-jacked planes struck the World Trade Centres Twin Towers, and he found himself unable to finish the project.

“To make a movie in which the central metaphor was New York City as a kind of a vision of Utopia, and then suddenly find that the world was going to be back in the same wasteful conflict, Contactmusic quoted him, as saying.

“I tried to write my way out of it, but I never could.

“I really was brought to my knees. I was pretty creatively frustrated. It was hard time. I was feeling like, ‘Where is my place?’” he added. (ANI)
