Fox Star Studios India celebrates a rocking 2009!

While “Australia’, their first film of 2009 created waves at the box office with the sizzling chemistry between Sexiest Man Hugh Jackman and the gorgeous Nicole Kidman, the astounding success of 8 Oscar winner “Slumdog Millionaire’ put the international studio way ahead of its contemporaries.
Sequels like “X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ and “Night at the Museum 2′ performed exceedingly well, even beating their simultaneous Bollywood releases at the box office.
“Ice Age 3′ released in 3D and was huge hit with kids and adults alike. Grossing Rs 9 crores, the film became the highest grossing Hollywood animated film ever in India.
While “Marley and Me’ touched the hearts of Indian audiences with its heart rending tale, “Bride Wars’ found an instant connect with the female audiences.
Fox’s foray into Indian cinema with “Quick Gun Murugan’ also turned out to be a hugely successful endeavour as the film’s quirky characters almost became a rage among the Indian youth.
Finally, the year couldn’t have ended on a better note as James Cameron’s “AVATAR’ is smashing all records at the Indian and international box offices. The film has already crossed a collection of Rs 55 crores in India, beating Titanic as the Biggest ever Fox film in India. It is also now among the Top 3 Biggest Hollywood hits in India, and on its way to become the biggest ever Hollywood film in India.
Internationally, AVATAR has crossed the USD 700 million mark Worldwide and is still going strong in all markets, estimated to cross the $1 billion mark in the next 2 weeks.
With such an amazing number of hits in the year and a total collection of about Rs. 150 Crores from it’s Hollywood films in India, Fox Star Studios is clearly the most successful studio in India for 2009.
