lone star September 29, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): The new line up for the fall season this year saw its first show being cancelled. ‘Lone Star’, the Fox show had been consistently getting a low rating despite the critical acclaim.

The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the news on Monday making the show earn the reputation of being the first casualty of the new season. Only two new episodes of the show had been aired so far. The same distinction had gone to the ‘A Beautiful Life’, last year. The CW show was produced by Ashton Kutcher. The show had been created on a fashion based theme which got the axe prematurely.

The ‘Lone Star’ had been well received by the critics who were all praise for the con man centric show featuring newcomer James Wolk. The story line revolved around Robert-Bob Allen, a brilliant con man from Texas who led double lives with two different women. Jon Voight played the role of the father in the show. The ratings for the show were abysmal and equaled 4.1 million viewers during its premiere. The ratings for the second episode dipped further to 3.2 million on Monday. Fox then decided to yank off the show with immediate effect.

The time slot originally allotted to the ‘Lone Star’ will now see episodes of ‘Lie to Me’, a criminal drama which had been due for a return on Wednesdays, November onwards. It will now be aired on Monday nights at 9 P.M.

Some of the critics still believe that ‘Lone Star’ could have fared better if it had been telecast on one of the basic cable network channels like USA or FX.
