Sep 29, (THAINDIAN NEWS) With much felicity and fanfare the American drama series “Lone Star” premiered on Fox on September 20. However, after last Monday’s episode, the Fox officials declared that the drama series will be replaced by another television series “Lie To Me”. It seems that the growing competition of the television networks has resulted in this replacement. The Fox declared cancellation of “Lone Star” as it could not manage to pull the audience
The television critics are of the opinion that “Lone Star” failed to keep up-to the expectations of the network as well as the audience. Another reason for the major setback was that “Lone Star” was competing with ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars”, NBC’s “The Event” and CBS’s “Two and a Half Men”. “Lone Star” pilot managed to pull 4.1 million viewers and just in one week the American drama series lost one million viewers. The psychological crime drama “Lie To Me” will return to the television from next week. The cast and crew of “Lone Star” were unavailable for any comments.
“Lone Star” failed to generate interest among the viewers though the television critics expected it to be one of the best new shows of this season. The story revolved around Robert Allen (James Wolk) who was a police but he leads a double life. In Houston he is known as “Bob” and in Midland he is known as “Robert”. However, this storyline did not meet the expectation of the people. A reputed media source reported that “Lone Star” the first television show that has been cancelled in 2010-2011 season. The Fox channel is presently concentrating on “Lie To Me” which stars Tim Roth. The drama is based on real life scientific discoveries made by Paul Ekman.
