Nov 5, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Former teen idol David Cassidy is hitting headlines lately but not for reasons he and his fans can be very proud of. The much acclaimed “The Partridge Family” star was taken into custody on Wednesday night in Florida after half a bottle of whiskey was retrieved from his car, police officials have revealed. Following the incident, David Cassidy was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and was jailed for a brief period of time. However, 60-year-old singer was later released on Thursday morning.

A report that was filed by the Florida Highway Patrol stated that on the late hours of Wednesday, David Cassidy was seen getting in an out of traffic in his Mercedes car at a highway along Fort Pierce when he was pulled by the authorities. The cops suspected him of drunken driving as he seemed to be in an inebriated condition and later his also failed an alcohol breath test. After the vehicle that the former teen idol was driving was searched thoroughly, a half empty bottler of whiskey was found on the back seat. Meanwhile, the police reports read that David Cassidy admitted that he had consumed a glass of wine during lunchtime and also a painkiller earlier on Wednesday.

While responding to the incident, David Cassidy’s publicist released a statement in which the singer/actor expressed his gratitude to all his friends, family as well as fans for their unconditional love and support while confirming that the former teen idol was now absolutely fine. The actor, however, has refrained from making any comments in this regard.
