carrieThe 22 year old former Miss California USA Carrie Prejean is aiming to get back at the pageant officials by filing a lawsuit against them on Monday, in Los Angeles. She is suing them for libel, slander and religious discrimination and has alleged that they had prevented her from mentioning God. She has stated that these treatments were meted out to her even before her controversial statements made against gay marriage.

Prejean has sued former co-executive director and also a former Miss USA Shanna Moakler, pageant executive director Keith Lewis and the K2 Productions, which is the franchise that operates the pageant. Incidentally, Moakler had resigned from her pageant post in a protest against Prejean.

Almost two months ago, in June, Prejean was fired and her crown taken away by the pageant officials, who had alleged that the beauty queen had missed several of her scheduled appearances.

Also on grounds of misbehavior with pageant staffers was indicated to have been a reason. However, Prejean’s atorney Chuck LiMandri has stated that the grounds on which the pageant had ousted Prejean was all make-believe. He reinstated that the removal had come only because of the remarks Prejean had made in April’s Miss USA pageant about marriage being only between a man ans a woman.

According to LiMandri, Prejean hadn’t missed any of the events. He said, “There were no contract violations.” Which is why Prejean has filed the suit, as LiMandr says, “I wanted to give them every opportunity to provide the basis for those claims.”
