Jan 4, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Renowned actress Anne Francis, who is best known for her role in “Forbidden Planet” died in Santa Barbara, California. The actress has been struggling hard against lung cancer for the past few years and her fans used to get the information about her progress in her official website. However, there are several reports about her cause of death. Some media outlets reported that the actress passed away due to natural causes and some other stated she died due to her complications of cancer. The actress was 80 years old.

Anne Francis’ daughter Jane Uemura later confirmed that the actress died because of her complications of pancreatic cancer. The actress underwent chemotherapy and surgery, after she learned that she has lung cancer. After the announcement of the death news, condolences are pouring in from different parts of the film and television fraternity who expressed their sadness at the unfortunate demise of the actress. Anne Francis was well known for her prominent beauty mark next to her lower lip and she became a household name after she played opposite Leslie Nielsen in “Forbidden Planet”. Moreover, she also gave some commendable performance in “Honey West”.

In one of her previous interviews, Anne Francis said that he has gained lot of love from her audience for her role in “Honey West” and she understands it when lot of people asks her about it. She said that her character in the television series made a lot of women feel that they are capable of doing many things in life and her role “encouraged” them a lot. Anne Francis was nominated for Emmy awards and she even received a Golden Globe award for her role.
