florenceSep 13, (THAINDIAN NEWS) British pop-rock band Florence and the Machine gave what was one of the most entertaining and talked about performances at the VMAs this year. Known for her extraordinary voice and melodious tunes, Florence Welch treated the audience to some soulful and contemporary music accompanied by a group of Gothic dancers on stage. In spite of the group winning just one award (for Best Art Direction), the stage performance is sure to leave a mark in the heart of the fans.

The redheaded Florence Welch appeared in a peach colored flowing dress on a circular platform during her performance. The scantily clad dancers were seen moving around the singer in the stage below to give the performance an almost surreal look. She sang the song ‘Dog Days Are Over’ and the audience were treated to a performance that can best be described as choreographed chaos. Choreographer Travis Wall has also called the Florence and the Machine performance to be a ‘huge celebration’.

Singer Florence Welch has revealed that the objective of the stage performance was to bring all the elements of the original video into the live stage act. In the video a number of dancers and percussionists are seen playing around the singer in strange and almost outlandish like dresses. On stage too, the performers who backed Florence and the Machine were seen in similar outfits. Florence Welch also said that she wanted to look slightly scary and also show the live audience who Florence was a singer. She added that the opportunity to show off the talent of the group in a platform as huge as the VMAs was something extraordinary for her.
