Firth almost missed Ford’s movie
January 20th, 2010 - 12:56 pm ICT by Sampurn WireColin Firth had been Tom Ford’s first choice for playing a gay college professor. But Firth had to refuse as he was already doing Dorian Gray.
Ford was disappointed on learning that Firth wasn’t available and looked for someone else to play the role. But when the film got delayed, he was glad because it meant Firth would be able to join them.
Ford narrates how he spoke to Firth at the Mamma Mia! premiere. He was frustrated then at finding out that Firth won’t be able to do it but when the shoot got delayed, it was as if things fell into place magically.
