Fincher wins best director for ‘The Social Network’

Los Angeles, Jan 17 (IANS) David Fincher won the best director gong at the Golden Globe awards here for his motion picture “The Social Network”.Adapted from Ben Mezrich’s 2009 non-fiction book “The Accidental Billionaires”, Fincher wielded the megaphone for this drama about the founding of the social networking website Facebook and its resulting lawsuits.
It features an ensemble cast including Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield, Justin Timberlake, Brenda Song, Armie Hammer, Max Minghella, Rashida Jones, Joseph Mazzello, and Rooney Mara.
Fincher beat the likes of Darren Aronofsky for “Black Swan”, Tom Hooper for “The King’s Speech”, Christopher Nolan for “Inception” and David O. Russell for “The Fighter” at the 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards Sunday. The gala took place at the Beverly Hills Hotel.
