Oct 8, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Swedish-French fashion model Filippa Palmstierna Hamilton’s name is currently caught in a middle of the controversial winds that have been bellowing in relation to a photo-shopped picture of her’s, that went wrong. At the end of both the line of the issue are, Ralph Lauren and the blog site BoingBoing.
The website of BoingBoing had recently posted a picture that had been published by the Ralph Lauren advertisement, that had Filippa on the page. The picture was however, distorted and BoingBoing had attached a caption to it, stating, “Dude, her head’s bigger than her pelvis.” This was the supposed issue that later on took the form of a high profile mud slinging situation that shaped up between BoingBoing and the executives at Ralph Lauren.
Ralph Lauren’s marketing wing and the law firm came out stating that they were not at happy with BoingBoing’s blog post. They were annoyed by the blog site’s representation of the photo-shopped picture of the fashion model and calling attention to its very evident flaw. According to sources, the authorities at Ralph Lauren sent a DMCA order to BoingBoing in order to take off the picture.
BoingBoing has, in an attempt to lash back at the fashion house, posted on its site, “Copyright law doesn’t give you the right to threaten your critics for pointing out the problems with your offerings.”
This issue has added fuel to the already burning issue of the unethical use of digital tools in order to enhance the physical appearance of a model. More and more fashion houses have recently been trying to distance themselves from the use of the photo-shop features, a feat for which the fashion industry have faced a lot of flak in the recent days.
