Melbourne, Dec 03 (ANI): The year 2007 will be a memorable one for Germaine Greer, as the feminist was named woman of the year by FHM.

Greer has beaten former Miss Universe Jennifer Hawkins and Summer Heights High character Ja’mie King, played by comedian Chris Lilley, to top FHM magazines 2007 Bloke Awards.

The 68-year-old was given the award on the merit that she was not afraid to speak the truth.

“Steve Irwin’s death was ironic comedy? It was! Princess Di was little more than a media whore? She was! She’s like a brilliantly grumpy pop culture truth rod,” News.com.au quoted FHM as saying about Greer.

She became the poster girl for Zoo magazine’s search for Australia’s sexiest feminist, earlier in the year, where she had posed for a naked photo.

“Germaine’s not adverse to taking her clothes off, I mean she was very hot in the 60s when she stripped down to her bra and knickers to pose,” editor Paul Merrill said in September.

“We’ve got a picture of Germaine completely naked and I think she looks great,” he added. (ANI)
