Fess Parker Dies Aged 85

fessparker1955California, Mar 19, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Disney’s “Wild Frontier” star Fess Parker passed away on Thursday at the age of 85. Fess Parker shot to fame with his immensely popular portrayal in the role of frontiersman in the 1950’s show.

It is said that the actor died of natural causes. Fess Parker’s iconic role of frontiersman Davy Crockett has inspired many Americans. His coonskin cap that he wore for his role also added to his popularity meter. Following the three episode show of the wild frontier they also came up with a movie version for the same which was titled as “Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier.” Since then, Fess Parker has been witnessed to deliver many a classic films of Disney that includes the “Old Yeller” and “Westward Ho the Wagons!”

Fess Parker had always found his love in television and he came back to TV clad in his iconic coonskin cap as “Daniel Boone,” which happens to be another show depicting the story of a frontiersman. Daniel Boone witnessed a successful saga over 6 seasons (1964-1970). Fess Parker left television to become a wine maker and also a real estate developer and he was hardly witnessed on television after “Daniel Boone”. When asked about his retirement from television, Fess Parker had said that it was his time to quit after a long phase of 22 years. Undoubtedly, the wild frontiersman has been equally impressive beside Gary Cooper, Gregory Peck, Sterling Hayden and John Wayne.Fess Parker was at his home in Santa Ynez Valley, California, with his wife, Marcella Parker when he breathed his last.
