Feng Fei Fei’s death announcement delayed
February 15th, 2012 - 12:27 am ICT by Aishwarya BhattHong Kong, Feb 14 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Taiwanese singer Feng Fei Fei passed away on the 3rd of January but the family kept the news from the public because of fear that it will bring bad luck. Taiwanese leader President Ma Ying-jeou joined millions of people to mourn the singer who took the country on the world map.
Her attorneys revealed that it was the 59-year-old’s final wish that her death should only be announced after the Chinese New Year holiday has passed. She feared that breaking the news to the nation before the period would have brought bad luck.
She reportedly told her attorneys that, “Breaking such news during the New Year holidays will bring bad luck to others.”
Fei Fei lost the battle against lung cancer, the same sickness that took her husband about two years ago.
Fei Fei is regarded as one of the national symbols of Taiwan. During the 2008 Presidential inauguration ceremony which brought in President Ma, Fei Fei gave the headline performance.
Reports say she has been cremated in Honk Kong with her remains interned at Daxi, Taoyuan County. The ceremony took place earlier in the month but it was kept under the radar.
