Manchester, Nov 11 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Officials of Manchester College have revealed that former X Factor contestant Faye Bray was sacked because she posted “sexualised” images of herself on the Internet. Officials say her action made her vulnerable because of the environment that she worked in.

Manchester College trains inmates at Brinsford jail in Wolverhampton. Following her sack in January, Bray petitioned the Birmingham tribunal saying her dismissal constituted sexual discrimination.

The governor of the school told the tribunal that when Bray published those images online, she presented herself in an inappropriate manner and her job as a prison teacher became “no longer viable”. That is why she was sacked.

Governor Stephanie Roberts-Bibby told the tribunal that the images were published on the personal website of the singer. She said that, “I didn’t think it was appropriate for Mrs Bray to be displaying such material on a website… I am very keen that we don’t do anything to reinforce negative stereotypes they may carry, not just of women, but of any group.”

The tribunal will continue hearing the case to determine if Bray was dismissed wrongfully or the action should stand.

Bray achieved some fame when she appeared as a contestant of the UK show X Factor in 2009.
