Tura SatanaReno, Feb 6, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Actress Tura Satana on Friday breathed her last at the age of 72. She passed away in Reno, Nevada after suffering from a cardiac failure. Siouxzan Perry, the deceased actress’ longtime manager confirmed the news of her death. Interestingly, some sources have listed that she was 75 at the time of her death but Siouxzan Perry, the trusted aide of Tura Satana said that she was 72.

Tura Satana is well remembered for the sexy, fiery iconic image that she made out of the 1965 hit movie “Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!” where the actress was seen in a new avatar, totally different from the roles that actresses of that era would portray. She indeed brought a revolution to the entertainment world with her bombshell image and went on to capture the hearts of several men with her bright and curvaceous appearance. Tura Santana has worked in several movies and television shows, but is best remembered for her portrayal of the feisty Varla in “Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!” directed by Russ Meyer. Her role is remarkable and the actress had herself confessed a few years back that Varla was someone who shows that women have an independent existence of their own and are capable of leading their lives without the support of men.

John Waters once remarked that “Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!” is the best film that has been ever made. Tura Santana also appeared in the Billy Wilder’s directed 1963 film “Irma la Douce”. Her popularity during her time was so immense that it is said that the “King of Rock and Roll” Elvis Presley too had fallen for her and proposed marriage to her which Tura Satana had turned down!
