Sydney, May 11 (IANS) An Australian woman, working as a personal fashion stylist, has pipped nearly 600 contestants to be crowned the country’s best blogger.

Former journalist Nikki Parkinson’s blog “Styling You” - which beat 570 entries - attracts more than 25,000 unique visitors and more than 100,000 page views each month, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.

Parkinson, who lives on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, gives tips on fashion and beauty.

She said it was her decision to walk away from journalism for a new career as a personal fashion stylist that led to the birth of her blog.

What initially began as a simple “business listing” website, Parkinson included the blogging feature so that she could easily add news updates.

“The benefit is that if you’re writing about what you’re passionate about, it doesn’t really feel like work,” Parkinson said.

“You get to work on your own terms too. I can finally write about what I care about, they way I want, when I want.”

“If you want to be a successful blogger, you need to know what it is you want to share with people and why. Picking a subject you really care about, that really interests you, that you’re thinking about all the time, is really important,” she said.
