Fashion Shows To Showcase North-East Ethnic Collection

July 28, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): The “Fashion Society of Shillong’ in association with the Ministry of Textiles of Indian Government, is preparing a platform to present the ethnic designs of north eastern part of India to the whole country. This will definitely boost the fashion industry in the region.

Joining hands with its seven sisters’ states, Nagaland has also contributed a lot to the mainstream fashion industry of India.

The ethnic show of north-eastern states will start from July 28 in Shillong for three days. Kolkata will be the next destination from 3rd to 5th August and finally it will reach Mumbai, where they will showcase the ethnic fashion flavor.

Naga designer Rosou Rhi will represent Nagaland to display his two collections comprising Naga traditional attires and Naga Ethnic design under the theme of “Super Ethos’. The designer is from Zhavame village, which belongs to the Chakhesang Naga community. Rosou has done Advanced Diploma in Fashion Designing and Apparel Production from the Government Polytechnic in Kohima. In the first graduation show in the institute, Rosou was awarded as the best designer.

In 2009, Rosou won again the best designer award in “Get Gorgeous’ Nagaland 2009. He is one of the top upcoming Naga fashion designers.
