Some of the biggest names in Hollywood attended the world premier of Farrah’s Story, a video diary documentary chronicling Farrah Fawcett’s two-and-a-half-year battle with cancer, at the Beverly Hills Paley Center on Wednesday night.

Amongst the Hollywood glitterati in attendance were Ryan O’Neal, Melanie Griffith, Antonio Banderas, Jacqueline Bissett, Marianne Williamson, Dick Van Patten and Loree Rodkin.

Fawcett was first diagnosed with anal cancer in September 2006 and earlier this year it was announced the cancer had spread to her liver.

The feature-length film will air on NBC this Friday (May 15, 2009) and contains intimate and graphic vision of the former Charlie’s Angels star as she undergoes treatments in the U.S. and Germany, including one scene where she pulls a knitted beanie off to reveal her bald head, and another where she is writhing in pain with needles penetrating her skin during profusion treatment.

Fawcett’s long time lover and Hollywood legend Ryan O’Neal, who has been constantly at Fawcett’s side throughout her battle, is seen throughout the film, as too are fellow Angels Jaclyn Smith and Kate Jackson.

When asked after the premier how is Farrah doing?, a visibly upset O’Neal said, “Not well … no …I’m going to go sit down because I’ll cry otherwise.”

O’Neal is reported to have described the film as “a gruesome story… a terrible story.”

While somber, the film is also uplifting as it encapsulates 62-year-old Fawcett’s bravery as she fights and fights, determined to, “get her life without barriers back.”
