031910_evans1 March 24, 2010, (Pen Men at Work): After much deliberation the decision is finally out and the new face of Captain America is none other than our very own Fantastic Four ‘super hunk’ Chris Evans. A host of other actors like John Krasinski, Chace Crawford, Ryan Phillip and Channing Tatum were considered before the role was offered to Chris for this latest Marvel studio production. The deal was offered to Chris on Friday afternoon, March 19th 2010, but there was the question whether he would accept the offer. The whole process is reported to have been a smooth affair and Chris agreed for the role after some deliberation.

Chris has starred in movies like ‘Push’ and ‘Not Another Teen Movie”, but the role of the Human Torch in ‘Fantastic Four’ (also based on a comic series) has been his meatiest till date. Chris will star alongside Robert Downey Jr, and Chris Hemsworth, and fans would get to see Captain America, Iron Man and Thor coming together in the Avenger series along with his solo flick. The filming of ‘The First Avenger: Captain America’ is slated to start in London in June 2010.

The movie is part of the ‘Avenger’ series and aims for a 2011 release. Though the news it is not officially confirmed, the latest post on Twitter by Jon Favreau, the Producer on team film ‘Avenger’, which says “Welcome to the new Captain. He continues the fine tradition of playing two Marvel characters!” only validates the news.

Captain America is a popular fictional character in a comic book series published by Marvel Publication and dates back to 1940’s. An estimated 210 million copies of the series has been sold in approximately 75 countries.
