Nobody knows what is going to happen in the year 2012, but the possibility of an Apocalypse has been noted by our ancestors, with the Mayan calendar coming to an end on the 21st of December in 2012. The ancient calendar, is supposedly causing a not-so-ancient panic among the people, who have started fearing that Earth is going to be destroyed- come 2012.
The show, explored the theories that, the governments who already knew some heady facts about the upcoming catastrophe were hiding the information form the public eyes in order to avert a full-fledged panic situation. The show even went on to claim that their are people who have already started preparing for the situation yet to come, by selling off their homes.
The mysteries of the ancient world were discussed, with the core lying at what the date actually meant to the Mayans. It was also derived that the date may not mean end of the world but end of the world ‘As we know it’ that is it could mean the coming of a new age. Lester Holt not only discussed the possible catastrophe but also the main key behind understanding the secret of 2012 and how to survive if Doomsday really sets in. The show took the viewers to Egypt and parts of America to unravel clues.
