Ex-child star and ‘Superman’ actor Jackie Cooper dies at 88
May 5th, 2011 - 1:21 pm ICT by ANILondon, May 5 (ANI): Jackie Cooper, the former US child star who went on to work as a TV producer, film director and feature in four ‘Superman’ movies, has died. He was 88.
According to his lawyer, Cooper died in Santa Monica, California, on Tuesday of complications related to old age, reports BBC.
At age nine he became the youngest player to be nominated for an Oscar for best actor, for the 1931 film ‘Skippy’.
Late in his career he returned to the screen as the Daily Planet editor in Christopher Reeve’s ‘Superman’ films.
Born John Cooper in Los Angeles in 1922, he married three times and had four children.
Two sons survive him. (ANI)
