Ex-accountant says Nicholas Cage was ‘compulsive’ spender
November 18th, 2009 - 6:32 pm ICT by ANIWashington, Nov 18 (ANI): American actor Nicholas Cage’s former accountant has claimed that the star was a ‘compulsive’ spender, who brought ruin upon himself.
Samuel J. Levin, who is Cage’s former financial advisor, said in documents filed in L.A. Superior Court, the actor was an out-of-control and debt-ridden spender who bucked any attempt to reign in his over-the-top lifestyle.
The actor had claimed in his filing that Samuel J. Levin, “lined his [own] pockets with several million dollars in business management fees while sending Cage down a path toward financial ruin”.
Levin denies the claims, saying he was paid a standard fee for a business manager.
While in his lawsuit Cage alleges that he was in the dark about his dire financial situation, Levin claims he did everything short of cutting up the actor’s credit cards.
Levin said he also warned Cage’s agents and representatives and pleaded with him not to buy more real estate.
“[Cage] knows that his losses are entirely and solely the result of his own compulsive, self-destructive spending, which he engaged in against Levin’s advice,” People magazine quoted the complaint as stating.
Cage’s rep did not return a call seeking comment. (ANI)
