Ewan McGregor rules out Trainspotting sequelMay 28th, 2008 - 2:29 pm ICT by admin
London, May 28 (ANI): Ewan McGregor has ruled out a sequel to the hit 1996 film Trainspotting based on Irvine Welshs novel of the same name because he doesnt like the sequel penned by the author.
The movie was a huge hit, and won the BAFTA award for Best Film, as well as an Oscar nomination in the same category.
The movie is about a group of heroin addicts in late 1980s Edinburgh and their passage through life.
McGregor revealed that while he thought the novel and movie were mindblowing, he was not impressed with the Porno, the sequel that Welsh wrote.
It was mindblowing what it did. I remember seeing it for the first time and thinking, Yeah, here we go! It was extraordinary for lots of reasons, mostly for being in my early 20s during the mid-Nineties, when it was all Oasis and Blur and Trainspotting, the Daily Express quoted him, as saying.
There has always been talk of a sequel but I was disappointed with the book, Porno, that lrvine wrote afterwards it was like he wrote a sequel to the movie.
“I would hate to damage Trainspotting. It would be awful to damage the reputation of that film. (ANI)
