ESPN’s Documentary “The House Of Steinbrenner” Premiers At Yogi Berra Museum

Sep 9, (THAINDIAN NEWS) ESPN recently premiered its documentary “The House Of Steinbrenner” at the Yogi Berra Museum on Tuesday. The audience included Yankees baseball legend Yogi Berra (who is also the owner of the museum) himself along with the film’s director. Yogi Berra museum is located Little Falls, N.J. The documentary is slated to hit the TV screens on Sep 21.
The documentary which has been directed by the two time Academy Award winner Barbara Kopple nicely weaves the story of the evolution of the new Yankee stadium from the old one that was headed by George Steinbrenner. A panel discussion headed by baseball analyst Buster Olney took place after the film. Barbara Kopple, the director of the documentary said she was honored enough to do a film on the Yankee stadium. She acknowledged herself of being a fan of the Yankees since his childhood.
The film also showcases the family aspects of the principal owners of the stadium. The documentary takes a stroll down to the memory lanes of the stadium under the regime of George Steinbrenner who passed away in July. The transition of the stadium under the surveillance of George Steinbrenner’s son Hal Steinbrenner has been covered in depth by Barbara Kopple. The closely knitted documentary also features several clips and remarks by former players and associates of the Yankees including George Steinbrenner himself. The contrasting characters of Steinbrenner Sr. and Steinbrenner Jr. has been wonderfully portrayed in the documentary. The documentary comprises of small yet nostalgic moments with several bytes from baseball legends. The highly coveted documentary will hit the television screens on three weeks from now i.e. September 21.
