Erstwhile Model Viveka Babajee Commits Suicide

June 26, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): India is abuzz with the news of Viveka Babajee’s death today. The 37 year old, erstwhile super model had, apparently, been suffering from depression. The police have also claimed to have recovered a suicide note from her residence in Mumbai.
Viveka had been a well known face in the modeling circuit back in 2000-2004. She had worked in a number of modeling assignments endorsing popular brands including the Kamasutra. She also had her stint with Bollywood and had featured in a couple of Hindi flicks there.
She is reported to have shifted to the beautiful island of Mauritius. However, she lived alone in Mumbai and had no strong support except for her friends. She had also worked as a fashion co ordinator on a part time basis. She apparently ran Vibgyor, an event management company
Her neighbors raised the alarm and notified the police after she failed to answer the door bell. They had been worried about the smell of gas that had been emanating from her apartment. The police broke open the door and discovered Viveka hanging by neck, from the ceiling fan of her bedroom.
Several letters addressed to someone called Gautam have been found by the police. Viveka and Gautam were reportedly having an affair for some time. Her mobile phone and laptop has also been seized by the police.
The body has been taken for post mortem to the Cooper Hospital.
The additional commissioner of police, west region, Mr. Amitabh Gupta, reported the details to the press.
