Ernest Borgnine Honored With SAG Lifetime Achievement Award

erLos Angeles, Jan 31, (THAINDIAN NEWS) With an illustrious career spanning across decades both in films as well as on television, noted actor Ernest Borgnine was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 17th Annual Screen Actor’s Guild award ceremony on Sunday night. The night was indeed special for all the followers of the Academy award-winning actor who was presented with the much-coveted honor by none other his ‘Red’ co-star Morgan Freeman.

The much-anticipated event that was held at the Shrine Exposition Center in Los Angeles turned out to be a star-studded event with celebrities from both films and television being honored for their body of work in the past year. As the veteran actor’s name was announced as the winner of the prestigious SAG Lifetime Achievement Award, the ‘Marty’ star was welcomed with a standing ovation as he went up stage to collect the trophy. While accepting the honor, the 94-year-old star recalled how his mother had once asked him whether he would be interested in becoming an actor while adding, “Well, I went ahead and became an actor.” The ‘Airwolf’ star also expressed hope that the craft of acting would never fail and added, “We will always give the best we possibly can to our profession” so that the viewers enjoy the works for years.

Apart from being honored with the Best Actor Academy Award way back in the year 1955 for his true to life portrayal of Marty Piletti in the flick ‘Marty,’ Ernest Borgnine has a number of highly-acclaimed films to his credit which includes ‘McHale’s Navy,’ ‘From Here to Eternity,’ ‘The Wild Bunch,’ to name a few.
