Eric Stoltz’s Tale Revealed In ‘Back To The Future’ Special Edition Release

backtothefuture640Oct 13, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Not many people remember the not so successful TV and movie actor Eric Stoltz these days. He dabbled with stage, small screen and Hollywood in his career and got some amount of success in each field. However, the biggest loss in his career is missing the role that made Michael J. Fox famous in the 1980s. The cult sci fi film “Back To The Future” had Eric Stoltz as the protagonist though very few people know about the fact. After the film was shot to an extent the director Robert Zemeckis decided to drop him and cast Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly. The rest, as they say is history. The film not only became a stupendous box office success but also got rave reviews from the critics.

The tale of Eric Stoltz has been revealed by the director of that film and the Marty McFly footage in the film has been made available in the “Back to the Future 25th Anniversary Trilogy”. It is gong to be released on Blu Ray. The director revealed that five weeks of shooting was dome with Eric Stoltz. It was a hard decision for him though. The film was produced by Steven Spielberg who is credited with directing several sci fi film in is career in Hollywood. Even though it was a sad development for the actor the decision of the director proved to be practical. The film grossed a whopping $381million in those days at the box office.

The Blu Ray special edition release of the film contains the footage that was shot with Eric Stoltz. However, it remains questionable whether keeping him in the cast would have done anything wrong for the film.
