New York, Oct 27 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Famous musician Eric Clapton is recuperating after having an operation to remove gallstones, his publicist has said. Due to this reason, the 64-year-old musician has had to pull out of a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame concert, which was to be held in New York on Friday.

According to reports, “His place at the Madison Square Garden gig will be taken by fellow guitarist Jeff Beck, who replaced Clapton in The Yardbirds in 1965.”

Clapton, 64, “will spend time recuperating at home in the UK and is very sorry to disappoint the fans and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame,” a statement released by his publicist said.

In the celebration concerts on Thursday and Friday other acts include U2, Aretha Franklin and Metallica. The basic intentions of the performances are to trace the history of rock ‘n’ roll, from soul to hard rock.

A message on Clapton’s official website said he “remains committed” to dates at London’s O2 Arena in February.

In a similar cancellation, Bruce Springsteen, was scheduled to perform on Thursday. But he cancelled the show “due to a death in Bruce’s immediate family,” according to his website.
