Steven Moffat has found an uncanny but “painful” similarity in the series ‘Episodes’. The sitcom brings out the interference that two British writers face when they decided to remake their British venture into a Hollywood series and ultimately find it totally altered by the executives of the network.
Steve Moffat remembers that when his show ‘Coupling’ was taken to Hollywood for the NBC, he had almost the similar experience with the network executives that the characters played by Stephen Mangan and Tasmin Greig experiences in the show ‘Episodes’. Stephen and Tasmin plays the role of Sean and Beverly Lincoln respectively, they are writers who wishes to remake their sitcom a successful one after moving to Hollywood.
The meetings that the Lincolns have with the executives are not exaggerated according to the Scottish television screenwriter and producer, who tweeted about the ‘Episodes’. Moffat has been a lifelong fan of ‘Doctor’ who went ahead and wrote over 10 episodes of the series for BBC One. The show runner of ‘Doctor’ who replied to one of his fans queries stating that not all network executives give the grief to writers, but there are quite a few in the industry.
The sitcom ‘Episodes’ airs both in US network and BBC Two in UK, it also stars ‘Friends’ star Matthew LeBlanc as himself and he is the prime reason for ruining of the show that the Lincolns write.
