emma2Aug 14, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Oscar winning British actress and screenwriter Emma Thompson has dared to speak that none before her has dared to utter. The lady who is at present writing the screen play of the remake of the “My Fair Lady” has voiced her discontent over the singing and the acting talent of the legendary actress Audrey Hepburn who was cast in the 1964 film and had won Academy Award for her acting skills.

During some interviews last week, Emma Thompson had mentioned that she had found Audrey Hepburn “fantastically twee”. The screenplay writer had also explained what she meant by “twee” and explained that it is “whimsy without wit”. The British actress has also added that Audrey Hepburn had that “mimsy-mumsy sweetness without any kind of bite” which is not something that Emma Thompson appreciates. She added that if she had known her, perhaps she would have enjoyed her acting more, but in the present scenario she had not enjoyed Audrey Hepburn’s act in “My Fair Lady” and she asserted “that’s all there is to it”.

Attacked vehemently by Audrey Hepburn fans and critics for her remarks Emma Thompson however did not change her stance. In a recent interview to a media source she stressed that there is no doubt about the fact that Audrey Hepburn was absolutely the most wonderful woman and a great humanitarian who had a delightful personality, but maintained that she is not her “favorite actress”. Emma Thompson maintained that she is very critical and very particular when it comes to appreciating acting and she had found that Audrey Hepburn’s performances were “really more about how she looked”.
