New York City, Oct 15 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Rapper Eminem has taken Apple to court for the second time in two years after the rapper’s music publishers, Eight Mile Style LLC claimed that Apple failed to honor its obligation in an out of court settlement that the two parties reached last year.

Eight Mile Style LLc sued Apple’s iTunes last year for failing to properly secure copyright permissions to allow for the download of the rapper’s songs.

The central issue of last year’s suit was to determine whether the initial agreement between Aftermath and the reps of Eminem gave Apple’s iTunes the right to make the rapper’s songs available for download. Eminem’s reps claimed that iTunes made some $2.5 million profit as a result of the downloads.

Eminem’s reps and Apple reached an out-of-court settlement shortly after the suit but it is obvious that Eminem is not happy about how the deal is going. Initially, the details of the settlement were not made public but it emerged that Apple agreed to pay the rapper’s company $2.2 million in settlements including attorney fees.

The suit was filed last week at a Detroit District Court. The suit is against Apple and Aftermath.

There were no comments from Apple and Eminem on the suit.
