Los Angeles, Oct 18 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Rapper Eminem says he lost five years of his life to the prescription drug ambien. According to the singer, the use of the drug caused him to lose part of his memory which also affected his writing.

During an interview with the Rolling Stone, Eminem revealed that for four years he was having writers’ block which prevented him from functioning as song writer.

He was quoted by the magazine as saying that, “…a lot of my memory is gone. I don’t know if you’ve ever taken ambien, but it’s kind of a memory-eraser. That shit wiped out five years of my life. People will tell me stories, and it’s like, ‘I did that?’ I saw myself doing this thing on [television network] BET recently, and I was like, ‘When was that?’”

The 39-year-old revealed that he got to the peak of his drug addiction in 2007 when he took 60 valium tablets and 30 vicodin tablets on the same day. The action sent him to the hospital and he said the doctors told him he was close to dying because the drugs he had in his system then was equivalent to “four bags of heroine.”

Eminem finally managed to break free from his addiction and re-launched his career which was considered by many to be dead. He credits people like Elton John for helping him beat the addiction.
