Washington, Dec 4 (ANI): The man who wrote Elvis Presley’s hit ‘It’s Now Or Never’, Aaron Schroeder, has passed away at the age of 84.
The songwriter died on Tuesday after battling a rare form of dementia similar to Alzheimer’s disease, according to his spokesperson Dale Olson.
Schroeder wrote over 2,000 songs, including 17 songs for Presley - five of which shot to number one.
His best-known track, ‘It’s Now or Never’, was the King’s best-selling international single.
He is also credited with helping launch the careers of Randy Newman, Jimi Hendrix and Barry White as a record producer, as well as writing the theme song for Scooby-Doo, ‘Where Are You!’
He lent his compositions to artists including The Beatles, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Perry Como, Art Garfunkel and Nat King Cole, among others.
Schroeder is survived by his wife Abby and daughter Rachel, reports Contactmusic.
Memorial services will be held on 7 December (09) in New York City. (ANI)
