Elvis, Ledger top-earning dead celebrities
October 30th, 2008 - 12:21 am ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )London, Oct 29 (IANS) Forbes magazine has released its annual Top-Earning Dead Celebrities list, with American singer Elvis Presley occupying the top slot since 2007.Commonly referred to as ‘The King of Rock ‘n’ Roll’, Elvis who died 31 years ago, earned £33 million last year, reports mirror.co.uk.
Cartoonist Charles Schulz of comic strip “Peanuts” fame was second with £20 million, Australian actor Heath Ledger making a debut at the third slot with £12.5 million, which he mostly earned from “The Dark Knight” merchandising.
Also new to the list is legendary actor Paul Newman, whose charity salad dressings and other enterprises brought in £3 million. the most enduring icons were Marilyn Monroe and James Dean, with £4 million and £3 million respectively.
