Elton John’s ex committed suicide after struggling to come to terms with sexuality
March 14th, 2010 - 9:38 pm ICT by ANILondon, March 14 (ANI): Sir Elton John has revealed that a former lover committed suicide by throwing himself before a passing lorry after struggling to come to terms with his homosexuality.
The 62-year-old singer said he was shocked by the man’s death, whom he was dating before he “married” David Furnish in 2005.
“Years back I had a relationship, and I had absolutely no idea in the world he was going to do this… he threw himself under a truck,” the Telegraph quoted Sir Elton, as saying.
He added: “There was so much grief.”
Furnish said: “He was so tortured by the conflicting views between his sexuality and his strong religious beliefs that he chose to take his own life.”
He added: “It is very sad indeed.”
Furnish, however, refused to name the man “out of respect” for his family. (ANI)
