Los Angeles, April 7 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Elton John’s decision to have his song used as the theme for American Idol proved to be the best for the singer’s career.

The sales of Elton John’s “Rocket Man: Number Ones” compilation has reportedly gone up by 400% in weekly sales. The singer had four songs performed on the show last week and sales of the songs have all gone up. All the four songs have made it to the 200 top-selling digital tracks compiled by Nielsen SoundScan.

Stefano Langone last week performed “Tiny Dancer” during the show. Other songs from the singer which were played on the show were Bennie and the Jets, Your Song and Rocket Man.

Over the weekend the British singer was the host of a sketch on Saturday Night Live. He called the Queen “mean old bitch” during a sketch on the show. In the sketch the singer played his original self and went to the Royal Family offering to sing at the Royal Wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton. After the Queen criticized the song that he sung during the funeral of Princess Dianna, Elton John got angry and called her “mean old bitch” in the sketch.

The Queen was played by Fred Armisen.
