Actress Ellen Pompeo, starring as Meredith Grey of the hit TV show “Grey’s Anatomy” is pregnant with her first child with music producer husband Chris Ivery.

A representative of Ellen named Jennifer Allen confirmed the pregnancy news saying “It’s great news” and that the parents to be are “ecstatic” about the baby.

Ellen Pompeo and Chris Ivery got married in November 2007 at New York’s City Hall, in the presence of New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and First Deputy Mayor Patti Harris. They chose to keep it completely secret and invited no friends and not even family. They met for the first time in a grocery store in Los Angeles in 2003 while squeezing lemons in the fruits and vegetables section. Obvious foreplay and double entendre talk followed and they began dating about six months later and got engaged in November 2006 after dating for three years. Ellen was recently seen shopping for baby clothes in Los Angeles.

About her pregnancy Ellen said, “It’s a huge lifestyle change, and I take that very seriously. We enjoy our life so much. We go to Europe and sleep in. So when I have the baby, I won’t feel like we’ve missed any fun, reckless times together, like staying up all night drinking champagne and having sex until five in the morning and not having to get up until two in the afternoon. But I’ve got to get on it, because the clock is ticking.”

It remains to be seen if her pregnancy will be incorporated into the “Grey’s Anatomy” show.
