Ellen Page might play the lead in ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’

Los Angeles, July 23 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Earlier reports had indicated that “Twilight” star Kristen Stewart was the favorite to land the main role in ”The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.” But new reports indicate that “Inception” star Ellen Page may have stolen the role ahead of Stewart.
Reports by Deadline Hollywood have indicated that Page has the highest chance of playing Lisbeth Salander in the new movie while Stewart and other stars such as “Alice in Wonderland” star Mia Wasikowska, and “An Education” Academy Award-nominee Carey Mulligan are also possible candidates for the role.
Daniel Craig is also being touted to play Mikael Blomkvist but Craig might be on location shooting Steven Spielberg-produced “Cowboys & Aliens” and the next Bond film.
The movie is scheduled to be released on December 21 2011 even though the lead characters have not even been chosen yet. “The Adventures of Tintin,” a movie directed by Steven Spielberg in which Craig also features would also be released on the same date.
“The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” made $100 million when the Swedish version was released on DVD in the US this month.
David Fincher will be directing the American version of the movie.
