- London, Oct 20 (ANI): American talk show host Ellen DeGeneres has bought 100,000 dollars worth of TV airtime in a bid to urge Californians to vote in favour of gay marriage.
DeGeneres, 50, who married her partner, actress Portia de Rossi, in August, wants to fight for gay marriages during the state ballot in November, campaign organisers revealed.
Even though same-sex unions were legalised in May, Proposition 8 seeks to define marriage as between a man and a woman only under the state constitution.
DeGeneres TV advert will be screened in the run-up to the state ballot on November 4, the BBC reported.
During the show she will be telling viewers that the opponents of gay marriage are twisting the truth, and will appeal to people to vote for compassion and fairness. (ANI)
