ellen Los Angeles, Jan 8 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Ellen DeGeneres is the new judge on the show American Idol. She has replaced Paula Abdul in the upcoming ninth edition of the talent show. However she is very clear about her priorities from the start, and has revealed that she is not going to please everyone on the show. Talking about the negativity she has faced from some viewers, she said: “I understand it. I was one of those people that was skeptical, like, ‘Why are they adding a fourth judge? I don’t understand this.’” She added: “But I do think that [Idol judge] Kara [DioGuardi] adds a lot to the show now. And also, it’s not just a new judge in the place of someone that they loved.”

she says that she knows that the viewers liked Paula a lot. And they might view her as the person who took Paula’s job, even though that is not true. So she says that she doesn’t want to please everyone and she also gave up trying to do that a long time ago in her life.

Besides this, there are numerous rumors that the other sarcastic judge Cowell will also leave the show when his contract ends in May. There are other rumors that also say that there will be new replacements for the old judges as they will likely boost interest for the two-hour premiere on Tuesday, January 12, industry watchers say. Audiences slipped to an average 26.3 million viewers per each twice-weekly episode in 2009 from a 2006 high of about 30.8 million, and “Idol” advertising sales fell in 2009 to $858.6 million from $903.3 million in 2008, according to TNS Media Intelligence.
