New York, Nov 9 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Obama administration has named television star Ellen DeGeneres as the new AIDS special envoy. Secretary of State Hilary Clinton announced that DeGeneres will be responsible for promoting awareness to the deadly disease around the world.

AIDS is a major issue especially in developing countries. The United States have announced that the country will use additional $60 million to fight the disease in sub-Saharan Africa where the incidence of the disease is higher. The administration hopes that the amount will help in fight the spread of the disease which is blamed for millions of deaths all around the world annually.
