Elizabeth, Hough part ways

The couple met on Dancing With the Stars and have been dating for a year.
They posted each other in matching Twitter messages: Hi everyone, we wanted you all to know directly from us, that Shannon & I have decided to end our relationship as boyfriend & girlfriend….However, we love and care about each other very much and will remain friends and in each others lives.
A few hours later, the 35-year-old actress - who began a relationship with the professional dancer during the hit show’s sixth season — thanked fans for their understanding.
Elizabeth said: Thank you everyone for all your sweet words & encouragement -it really means a lot to me!
Shannon Elizabeth (born September 7, 1973) is an American actress and former fashion model. Elizabeth came to prominence in the 1999 comedy film American Pie.
Born Shannon Elizabeth Fadal, Elizabeth’s father is Syrian and her mother is of Irish, English, German and Cherokee ancestry. She was born in Houston, Texas and raised in Waco, Texas.
Derek Hough (pronounced huff) (born May 17, 1985) is an American dancer and choreographer. A former world champion in Latin American Dance, he appeared on the fifth season of the ABC television series, Dancing with the Stars with actress Jennie Garth (earning fourth place in the competition), and was eliminated during the seventh Week of the sixth season, earning sixth place with actress Shannon Elizabeth.
