Elizabeth Banks, 35, is an American actress seen in Scrubs, the Spiderman series, The Uninvited, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, W., Zack And Miri Make A Porno, and Role Models.
Born Elizabeth Maresal Mitchell, at Massachusetts, she changed her name to avoid being thought of as actress Elizabeth Mitchell.
Her debut was in the film Surrender Dorothy as “Elizabeth Casey” and went on to act in movies like Seabiscuit, Heights, the Spider-Man films (playing Betty Brant), and the cult comedy film Wet Hot American Summer. Movies like The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Slither got her even more fame and she has also worked as Mark Wahlberg’s love interest in the Invincible.
Banks has appeared as a guest star on the NBC comedy-drama Scrubs as Dr. Kim Briggs, the love interest of JD. She again appeared on the show Stella and then acted in films Meet Bill with Aaron Eckhart and Jessica Alba, Fred Claus with Vince Vaughn and Paul Giamatti and Definitely Maybe, with Isla Fisher and Ryan Reynolds. She has also worked in The Uninvited, which is a remake of the classic Korean horror flick, A Tale of Two Sisters.
She said that she had done her homework for th character Rachel on the Rebecca De Mornay’s part in The Hand That Rocks The Cradle, and comments, “It was very important to me that every line reading I gave could be interpreted two ways, so that when you go back through the movie you can see that”.
Currently she has no projects in the pipeline, but, “There was a David O. Russell movie that I really wanted to make with Vince
Vaughn that ended up falling apart”, said Banks, about the film H-Man Cometh, in a January 2009 interview.
