Elijah Woods to star in Wilfred
June 23rd, 2011 - 11:03 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattHollywood, June 23 (THAINDIAN NEWS) On Thursday, FX will air the first episode of the comedy ‘Wilfred.’ The show was inspired by a highly successful piece in Australia.
In the show, Elijah Wood plays the role of Ryan. In the first episode of the show, Ryan tries to commit suicide but Jenna (played by Fiona Gubelmann) interrupts him and asked him to take care of her dog. In the show, it was only Ryan who realized that the dog was indeed a man in a dog costume.
The origin of the story is found in a simple conversation that took place between friends. Adam Zwar told his friend Jason Gann about an incident involving his girlfriend and her jealous dog. The story was developed into a script for a movie and then later into a 16-episode series in Australia. The series won the best comedy award among several others during the Australian Film Institute awards.
The show will premiere in the United States on FX. It will be shown at 10 ET. This is the pilot of the show and it was written by David Zuckerman with Randall Einhorn directing it. Jason Gann is a co-executive producer of the show.
