Pritish Nandy Communications’ “Ek Tho Chance’ will premiere at the 14th International Film Festival of Kerala in December 2009. “We are honored to have “Ek Tho Chance’ as part of our festival this year. It is a fantastic film and it’s an even greater honor to have Saeed Mirza with us, back with a film after 15 years,” says Bina Venugopal, Artistic Director of the Kerala International Film Festival.
“Ek Tho Chance’ marks the return of Saeed Akhtar Mirza (”Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyon Aata Hain’, “Salim Langde Pe Mat Ro’, “Mohan Joshi Hazir Ho’, “Nukkad’) whose last film, Naseem was officially invited to the Directors’ Fortnight at Cannes. The film stars Purab Kohli, Amrita Arora, Rajat Kapoor, Zafar Karachiwala, Vijay Raaz, Pawan Malhotra, Ali Fazal, Ashwini Kalsekar, Sadia Siddiqui, Saurabh Shukla, and Vinay Pathak.
Says Saeed Akhtar Mirza, “My philosophy towards life and concerns about social issues are the same. “Ek Tho Chance’ is a people’s film. It’s a rich mosaic of Mumbai, a city in which love and ambition, friendship and sorrow mould the lives and destinies of the people who call it their home. I’m glad that we’re screening “Ek Tho Chance’ at one of my favorite international film festivals.”
Says Pritish Nandy, “When Rajat Kapoor suggested we approach Saeed Mirza to make a new film for us, after a hiatus of 15 long years, I jumped at the idea. Simply because great filmmakers never fade away, they need to be coaxed, inspired, even provoked to come back and take a shot at another film. To be honest, Saeed didn’t even need that much of coaxing. He had an idea in his head and he was ready to get back on the streets with it. “Ek Tho Chance’ is the reason why we are all here in this city. Everyone wants that impossible, incredible, life-changing break and Mumbai never says no. Some make it. Some fail. But most people who come here get a shot at it if they are persistent enough. If you love this city as much as I do, “Ek Tho Chance’ will touch you, move you, inspire you, and take you where we all want to be. We’re thrilled that India’s finest festival has chosen this film this year.”
“We plan to release “Ek Tho Chance’ globally in March,” says Rangita Pritish-Nandy, Creative Director, and PNC. The film will see an International release through London based Highpoint Media Group.
