Edie Falco as “Nurse Jackie”June 1st, 2009 - 8:34 pm ICT by GD
Edie Falco, an Emmy Award winner and a former “The Sopranos” star, is making her return to television in the new Showtime series “Nurse Jackie,” which begins on Monday, June 8th, right after the premiere episode of the upcoming fifth season of “Weeds.”
In the new series, “Nurse Jackie,” Edie Falco will be appearing as Jackie Peyton, an emergency-room nurse in a hospital in New York City. This new series starring Edie Falco marks the latest offering coming from Showtime. Many viewers feel that were it not for the tangy voiced Falco, the series could have come as one of those which get forgotten as soon as the credits start to roll. But with Falco anchoring the series as Jackie Peyton, “Nurse Jackie” promises to be different and interesting as well, the combination which is so rare to find nowadays.
Appearing as Jackie, Falco will be seen sporting a rather unattractive short haircut (in league with her line of work). Jackie is a veteran emergency nurse who is straight forward and very cynical about the doctors with whom she has to work and at the same time she is kind towards her patients. Precisely, she plays the role of a perfect modern nurse. In the very second episode, she gives a small dose of the cynicism she has towards her doctors and what she actually thinks of her profession with the lines, “‘Doctors don’t heal, they diagnose ” we heal.”
If you really want to know more about the series then you will have to watch it from the very fist episode that will be aired on Monday.
